"The teaching is so obvious. Take some real life examples in your life to understand the teaching. If you have done a mistake and you are not able to forgive yourself, we say that you are feeling guilty. You will keep brooding over it time and again. This happens because the thought that you should not have done, or you should have done something else rather than the mistake you have committed etc will keep haunting you. You are not able to face or accept the fact that you have done the mistake. This is nothing but guilt and suffering.
